Since this website opened
several years ago, I occasionally receive emails or questions such
as these:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jayson - $1300 for a real belt?? Are you freaking crazy! I have 12
real belts and I paid $200 for each!
Dean - Is there really that much of a difference between real belts
and those sold at events?
fernando25 - What are your belts made of? Why do they cost so much?
I_Want_2MakeBelts2 - I am doing a school project can you tell me in
detail how these belts are made?
DudeFlint - I own a store in TN and wish to sell these belts there.
Give me the wholesale price for these belts ASAP.

I have decided to do a comparison and show
the difference between "Real Championship Belts"
made by Dave Millican / Reggie Parks and
the Toys made by Figures Inc
Toy Company.
REAL BELT
-vs-
TOY BELT
The Strap:
The toy company
uses a cheap simulated leather strap which bubbles up when folded
and cracks with time:

If you dissect the strap you will see it's just a whole bunch of
cheap material glued together:
Here below we now have a real leather hand tooled strap made for a
real championship belt:

Here's one the toy straps,
the detail looks cheap as its machine pressed:

Here on the real championship belt below all the
details are done by hand and takes numerous hours:

The Backing:
This is the back of a toy belt.
Screws that hold the plates down are exposed (and check out those
lovely bubbles):

Here on the real championship belt, all bolts are
covered with soft leather backing the color of your choice:

The Plates:
Here we have the toy companies
plates, they are 2mm thin.
Here we have real championship plates which are 4mm
thick:
Plates Details:
The plates on the toy companies
belts are machine pressed and the detail is pretty much dented in
lightly:

Here on the real championship belt the details are
acid etched deep into plates:

Bottom line: Real
belts are not for everyone. These real belts are what the wrestlers
in WWE, NWA-TNA and other major promotions carry to the ring. They
do not carry the two hundred dollar toys which can be gotten on Ebay,
Wrestling Superstore or at wrestling events. Ohh and did I mention
they are 24k gold plated? So you ask, why do I show so much hatred
towards the figures inc toys? I don't hate them at all. I realize
that they are toy, expensive toys which are decent and I own 5 of
them myself. When you receive your fist real belt from Dave/Reggie
you yourself will see what I am trying to explain. The real belts
are just far more superior in quality as they are not mass
produced in Chinese sweatshops but rather handmade and take numerous
hours of pride by the maker. |
